treatment plan

What does this mean?
A treatment plan is completed between the family and therapist beginning with the evaluation and continuing to the first ongoing session. A treatment plan involves setting long term (usually for six months but sometimes annual) and short term goals for the child and family. Typically goals are set for both the child receiving therapy and the parents and siblings of the child in an effort to increase the quality of the communicative interactions between them. Families fully participate in the setting of the goals, carrying them out, and in changing them when necessary. Implementation of the treatment plan involves planning, research, and demonstration by the therapist and practice and carryover by the family with continual input on progress.
