| An Inspiring Communication Family Visit...Provides the opportunity for the family to address questions and concerns to a certified speech language pathologist (SLP) in the family's home at a time convenient for the family (Mon.-Fri., 8AM-8PM appointments)Supplies research-proven, time-tested techniques to enhance communication and literacy in children and which are easily incoporated into daily activitiesProvides the family with valuable feedback on family strengths contributing to communication growth for the child.Recommends alternative services and helps families seek out local resources.May be conducted, at the request of the family, during a Developmental Therapy session (for families receiving First Steps), so DTs may incorporate strategies into future sessions.
How do I schedule an Inspiring Communication Family Visit?1. Contact us to set up an appointment. Plan to have your child and at least one parent, but preferrably the entire family, present. The appointment will last one hour and is typically scheduled withn 1-2 weeks of the phone call. 2. Between your phone call and our visit, please write down any concerns or questions you have regarding your child's communication (speech, language, social skills or other) or literacy development (pre-reading, reading, writing). 3. The cost is $45* which must be pre-paid with a personal check. Checks are not deposited until the session is completed. *Mileage at 40 cents/mile will be charged if location is greater than 30 miles from Greenfield, IN. Only miles over 30 will be charged (i.e., if the distance is 42 miles from Greenfield, you would only be charged for 12 miles) Will my child be evaluated during an Inspiring Communication Family Visit?No, not with a formal evaluation, and no report will be written (For a formal evaluation, please see our SERVICES page). During an Inspiring Communication Family Visit, no labels will be applied, and no diagnoses will be made. Informally, through conversation with and observation of the family, the SLP will determine what strategies and techniques will likely be most effective in helping parents to have better communicative interactions and enhanced literacy experiences with their children. |
