Screening children for Communication Delays:  A lesson in cartoons! 

Caregivers are responsible for knowing when to refer children to all types of specialists including speech language pathologists.  In this hands-on workshop, cartoon characters play a primary role  as participants learn typical communication development, various types of communication delay, when a referral may be necessary, and to whom to refer. 

    How long:  2 1/2 hours   

    Cost:  $200 for up to 20 participants.  Additional participants will be $8/person*

Hand in Hand:  Literature and Language 

Want to make teaching good communication skills easier?  Want better outcomes for pre-literacy skills?  Using literature as the foundation, this workshop provides techniques for incorporating various communication goals into the classroom. Vocabulary development, speech sounds, social skills and more will be discussed as will choosing engaging books, using props, and expansion ideas.  Strategies are provided to get ALL children loving literature, and participants will take home a child's book and other hand-made materials! 

    How long:  2 1/2 hours

    Cost:  $200 for up to 20 participants.  Additional participants will be $8/person*

Communication for Kinesthetic Kids:  Communication for Active Children 

Do you have children who are "too busy" to sit through circle time or group activities?  Do you have difficulty engaging some children?  This workshop provides strategies for getting active or inattentive children communicating!  While the focus is on communication, the moving strategies in this workshop are easily adaptable to other developmental goals as well.  From games to daily living adaptations to music and more, we'll learn strategies, practice them, and then make materials to keep!  

    How long:  2 1/2 hours

    Cost:  $200 for up to 20 participants.  Additional participants will be $8/person*

Simple Signing to Speak 

From birth, signs have been shown to help children communicate earlier and learn more!  Adding some simple signs to your infant/toddler curriculum can make a huge difference in your outcomes!  This workshop is specifically geared toward caregivers working with infants and toddlers and provides basic signs, opportunity to practice, and ways to remember them.   Simple strategies and easy adaptations provide great ways to carryover signs to the classroom.   

    How long:  2 hours

    Cost:  $150 for up to 15 participants.  Additional participants will be $8/person* 

*Parents who have concerns regarding speech/language may be encouraged to attend as well.

Additional fees may be charged for transportation costs if the distance is more than 30 miles from greenfield, IN.
