evaluation

What is this?

Communicative evaluations are conducted by the speech language pathologist (SLP) with families, and will involve a variety of formal and informal testing, observations, and play in the natural environment to assess communication needs.  Discussion with families to determine history, areas of need, and goals that suit the family will be completed as well.  Voice, fluency, articulation (speech sound), expressive (speaking) and receptive (understanding) language, word finding difficulties, oral motor delays, social skills, literacy and other areas may be evaluated.  In some situations, a full evaluation may not be necessary if your child is already receiving services through the public schools or First Steps Early Intervention system by another SLP and has recently received a full communicative evaluation.
